The Art of the Egg fundraiser for Alaqua Animal Refuge will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Donna Burgess Gallery in Grand Boulevard. Local artists will transform eggs, laid by Alaqua's resident Emu sisters, Zsa Zsa and Eva, into works of art. The egg creations will be available for purchase through a silent auction along with original paintings.
Ladies, be sure to wear your best Easter hats to participate in the Easter Bonnet Contest, sponsored by Insurance Zone. Local artist and musician, Cody Copeland, will be providing musical entertainment. Beer, wine, and appetizers will be provided. There is a $10.00 suggested donation at door.
Join us from 6 - 10pm for this fun-filled event to raise money to help the animals of Alaqua. There will be food, drink, music, art - and lots of fun! Donna Burgess Gallery is located at 585 Grand Blvd., Suite 102 in Miramar Beach.
About Alaqua Animal Refuge
Alaqua Animal Refuge – an independent, nonprofit organization located on Florida’s Emerald Coast – advocates the general welfare and humane treatment of animals by providing shelter, prevention of pet overpopulation and adoption services. Located on 10 acres in Freeport, the refuge was formed by Walton County, Fla.-resident Laurie Hood in 2007 when she discovered that countless animals were being euthanized due to the lack of a no-kill shelter/adoption organization in the area. Since that time, Alaqua Animal Refuge has helped find homes for thousands of animals. Currently, up to 100 animals are adopted per month from this unique rescue facility, which serves as a true refuge for more than 250 animals at any given time.
