Located on Choctawhatchee Bay in Walton County lies a city surrounded by beautiful Florida wilderness. Freeport, just 13 miles north of South Walton's famous sugar sand beaches, is an ideal place for fishing, boating, paddling and just exploring natural Florida.
Sundown on October 29, 2015 was the end of an era as a day-long celebration of Seagrove Village Market Café came to an end. Free food, beer, wine, and music was shared with hundreds of people inside the old market, and outside in the parking lot and on the street. George and Ann Hartley went out with a bang and opened the doors of the old market for the last time.

Walton County began the process of developing a paddle trail initiative on the Choctawhatchee River beginning in 2011. Former Walton County Board Member Scott Brannon led the movement towards the application for grant funds to develop the Blueway Paddle Trail. Unfortunately, Walton County was not awarded funding at that time.
