Topsail Hill Preserve State Park Star Gaze

Join the Northwest Florida Astronomy Association (NWFAA) at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park on Friday, May 23rd for a Star Gaze. Solar telescopes will be set up about 6:30PM, 2 hours prior to sunset to safely observe our closest star, the Sun. Once the Sun sets, the group will transition to nighttime observing. The star gaze is free but normal state park fees apply. The park closes the gate at sundown so make sure you arrive before then.

Different size and design telescopes will be set up by dusk and celestial objects will be chosen with an eye to visual observation and variety. The objects visible will depend on the season and time of night but normally include bright galaxies and nebulae, star clusters, and planets.

While there will be plenty of telescopes available to view through, feel free to bring your own telescopes/binoculars and join in the fun. Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, located on the west side of Scenic 30A in South Walton, offers a wide variety of natural resources including 3.2 miles of secluded, white sand beaches with majestic dunes over 25 feet tall.
