On Friday, October 9th, Dad, Joey, and I loaded up our gear in our Toyota Sequoia and hooked up our boat (a custom built Scandy White) and prepared to head to Panama City Beach.

Day of the Jellyfish at Grayton Beach

While fishing off of the beach Grayton Beach, Florida I encountered thousands, if not tens of thousands, of Moon Jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) in what had to be a a jellyfish jubilee. This movie, as my other underwater movies, was recorded with a GoPro camera attached to a home made PVC drop stick weighted with BBs and attached to a heavy rod and reel. A small fin was also attached to the PVC tube to stabilize the sway motion as the camera was pulled through the water.

SoWal Video Tour of Grayton Beach, Florida in South Walton

Grayton Beach, Florida was the first beach community established in South Walton, sometime in the late 19th century. If you walk down one of Grayton Beach's narrow roads, you get the feeling things don't change very fast here. Grayton Beach is the heart and soul of South Walton, representing the essence of laid-back beach life.
