Walton County Expands Beach Tram Service To State Parks

May 20, 2026 by Kurt Lischka

Walton County will expand the existing Beach Tram service connecting visitors to Grayton Beach State Park and Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, with an inaugural ride taking place Friday, May 22, at 11 a.m. from the Grayton Municipal Parking Facility at 1505 County Hwy 283 S, Santa Rosa Beach. The inaugural ride is hosted by the Walton County Board of County Commissioners, in partnership with Beach Operations and Tourism departments.

The County recently expanded the Beach Tram Service in early 2026 - read more about it. Walton County Tourism is again offering complimentary day-use entry to Grayton Beach State Park and Topsail Hill Preserve State Park from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and getting there is easier with the Beach Tram service.

This free tram service is designed to reduce vehicle traffic and parking pressure near the parks, supporting Walton County's commitment to preserving the natural ecosystems that make our community special. Riders will always know what to expect before they arrive, as the tram operates in coordination with state park capacity limits to ensure visitors are informed of park availability before boarding.

With the addition of state park access, the Beach Tram network expands public beach access for visitors and residents through routes operating from two facilities:
