Back in 1986, Bob and Linda White would sometimes wonder if their idea of starting a bookstore at Seaside was such a good idea. Fast forward to 2016 and any doubters have long since become believers as Sundog Books clips right along. The couple, surrounded by customers, employees and their latest Sundog dog “Glover,” celebrated their 30th year in business Saturday, April 30, 2016…the day fittingly coincided with Independent Bookstore Day.

It's always a beach day in SoWal and that means it's time to hit the sand! But first, here's the latest SoWal List, and in this edition we've lined up some great places for you to get your gear on.

South Walton fashion has changed so much over the years. Bathing suits and flip flops may always be the most popular ensemble, but make no mistake - fashion has officially moved into SoWal and taken a front seat.

The upscale shops around town are offering lines you find in big cities, as well as shoes and jewelry to boot. No longer are we on the back burner for fashion, instead we are at the starting line with our pumps on. This SoWal List was so fun to research. We tried on clothes, swiped our plastic, and came away with some amazing threads.
 

The best gifts are found at the beach! South Walton has lots of wonderful products and services that will make someone you know very happy. Head out for a shopping adventure at some of our favorite shops and shopping destinations. 30Avenue is a new upscale shopping and dining destination on the eastern gateway to South Walton, just across the highway from Rosemary Beach. It's growing day by day, and not only has fantastic restaurants and boutiques, but premier office space on upper floors. Brick walkways and tall palms line a lush green space and an infinity reflecting pool. White stucco façades are similar to nearby Alys Beach architecture.

We enjoy discovering the freshest and most interesting foods whether its produce, cheese, wines, olive oils, seafood, baked goods or specialty foods. SoWal food shopping options are expanding in ways that make us thrilled to be able to shop local. Tasty, healthful and fresh foods can now be found at a number of locally owned markets, health foods stores, and gourmet/specialty shops.

With excellent stores like Anthropologie and Pottery Barn, Grand Boulevard’s retail mix is aligning nicely with their established dining scene. Wide shaded walkways, lush greens and stone facades will have you looking for excuses to visit, and there are plenty. Like Happy Hour, for instance.
