Fisher House on the Emerald Coast won its second consecutive “Best of Show” award at the 2012 Festival of Trees in Grand Boulevard. The award came with a $2000 check. The theme for the tree is Helping Heroes Heal. The Fisher House team was led by the organization’s executive director, Kim Henderson.
 

Come on down to Seaside this weekend and help us light it up and weclome Santa Claus! Grab your blankets and head to the Seaside Amphitheater at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23, for a holiday edition of Central Square Cinema featuring the Christmas comedy “Elf” on the lawn in Central Square. Holiday events continue on Saturday, November 24th with the Seaside Farmers Market from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The market features a variety of local vendors featuring fresh produce, baked goods, dairy products, native plants and even some special holiday treats. 

One extraordinary day a year, Harbor Docks turns in their famous seafood menu for a Thanksgiving Day feast, an 18 year tradition to benefit Okaloosa Habitat for Humanity and Destin Harvest.
 
Friends and family, locals and tourists alike, will gather at the restaurant for this unforgettable event on Thursday, November 22, Thanksgiving Day from 11am till 7pm. Harbor Docks is located at 538 Highway 98 East in the heart of Destin.

Sinfonia’s seventh year of innovative musical programming reaffims the organizations commitment to excellence for the 2012-2013 schedule.

Maintaining the tradition of “symphony redefined,” the non-profit symphony has scheduled a stellar line up of concerts with world-renowned guest artists. Dubbed “007 Years of Symphony Redefined,” the season culminates in an orchestral tour de force of the original soundtracks from all of the “James Bond” films in “Bond & Beyond: Celebrating 50 years of James Bond.”

The award-winning documentary about local musician Duke Bardwell is finally coming to Florida with a special screening at the 2013 30A Songwriters Festival.  Duke & The King tells the story of Duke, one of our great, unheralded musicians and songwriters in America. He's a low-key and humble SoWal celebrity (see story below).

The Seaside Institute will award this year’s Seaside Prize to Senator Bob Graham. The Seaside Prize is awarded annually to individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the quality and character of our communities.

The ceremony will take place as part of the Seaside Prize weekend events, which will be held on the first weekend in February in Seaside, Florida.
