This November, a new wine and food festival is coming to the South Walton area. Produced by Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF), Harvest Wine & Food Festival is poised to be one of the Southeast’s premier fall events and will provide patrons the opportunity to sip and savor some of the world’s finest wine and culinary selections while enjoying the iconic beach town of WaterColor. Tickets available online at www.dcwaf.org/tickets. Weekend passes and lodging packages are available.

The clubhouse has risen and the pool will be filled soon. The Sanctuary at 331 Apartments are nearly complete,  winding through the shady trees on the edge of Point Washington State Forest just south of the bay on the east side of Hwy 331.

As people make plans to go to the beach for the Independence Day holiday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is reminding the public to help protect beach-nesting shorebirds and sea turtles by giving them space and keeping personal fireworks off the beach. Please respect shorebird and sea turtle areas that are posted to protect these vulnerable species, but remember not all nests are posted.

The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) in partnership with the South Walton Artificial Reef Association (SWARA) will join two of SoWal's most beloved attractions - the arts and the Gulf of Mexico - by creating The Underwater Museum of Art (UMA), North America's first underwater permanent sculpture exhibit. The project has support from the National Endowment For The Arts.

Entering the South Walton Visitor Center is like walking into a room full of long-lost relatives. There's lots of “happy-to-see-you” faces and special greetings that wrap around you like a warm and fuzzy welcome blanket.

About 50 people attended the opening of Pilcher Park on Friday, April 7th. The crowd was was wowed by the gem of a park underneath the 331 bridge on the south shore of the Choctawhatchee Bay.

Walton County Commissioners joined the celebration along with representatives of the Florida Department of Transportation to dedicate the new Thomas Pilcher Park and the second span of the Clyde B. Wells Bridge.

Grayton Beach State Park has once again been included in the list of Top 10 Beaches in this year's 26th annual picks by coastal expert Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, the professor at Florida International University also known as Dr. Beach.
