Walton County began the process of developing a paddle trail initiative on the Choctawhatchee River beginning in 2011. Former Walton County Board Member Scott Brannon led the movement towards the application for grant funds to develop the Blueway Paddle Trail. Unfortunately, Walton County was not awarded funding at that time.

National women’s retailer Anthropologie is now open in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, joining recently opened men’s and women’s retailers Lilly Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines. The twenty-eighth year of ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival takes place throughout Grand Boulevard's town center May 7 & 8. The arts festival exhibits the work of over 200 fine artists from around the country. Celebrating the arts is a Mother's Day weekend tradition in South Walton, Florida. 

A Better South Walton, Inc. (ABSW), a nonprofit organization founded to seek more effective governance and local representation for South Walton, is holding three community meetings to discuss the key findings of the preliminary feasibility study and the opportunities it gives the community. These meetings will give the community the chance to get the information surrounding the ABSW initiative, ask questions and voice their concerns.

CAA's first member artist co-op gallery to open May 23 in The Market Shops! The Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) of Walton County announces the opening of the Foster Gallery, a CAA member artist co-op gallery located in The Market Shops next to DIG Eatery and the new Ben & Jerry's. Twelve artists will be chosen to exhibit and work in the gallery during the Summer 2016 exhibit, May 23 - August 26.

A dazzling roster of more than a dozen celebrity winemakers, brew masters, distillers, chefs and entertainers, will converge in South Walton to wine, dine, educate and entertain guests as part of the four-day celebration of wine during the 2016 South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival held April 28-May 1, 2016 throughout the Town Center of Grand Boulevard at Sandestin.
